Mind Bender · Jacksonville Beach · Free Roam Reality

Your host has no sympathy and no interest in your comfort. You and your group are dragged into a world where your worst fears come to life. Every scream is tracked. Every gasp costs you. The calmest player wins.
Don't Scream features jump scares, horror environments, ghosts, zombies, spiders, and intense atmospherics designed to frighten you. Recommended for ages 12 and up. Parents may use their discretion for younger guests, but please be aware this experience is genuinely frightening. No refunds will be issued. If your group includes guests who are sensitive to horror content, we recommend our escape rooms instead — The Four Kingdoms and Mystery in Chinatown are challenge-forward with no horror elements.
The Experience
Your host has no sympathy and no interest in your comfort. You and your group are dragged into a series of terrifying scenarios — abandoned hospitals overrun with zombies, corridors crawling with rats and spiders, rooms where the shadows move on their own — and your only objective is to solve the puzzles, collect the artifacts, and get out.
But there's a catch. Your headset is listening.
A built-in microphone tracks every sound you make throughout the approximately 30-minute experience. Every scream, every gasp, every involuntary squeak is registered and costs you points. The player who keeps their composure while navigating through genuinely terrifying environments wins. Quiet strategy is rewarded. Panic is punished.
This is not a passive experience you watch happen. You are physically walking through the space, turning corners you don't want to turn, opening doors you don't want to open, and working with your group to solve escape-room-style puzzles while the environment does everything in its power to break your nerve.
Talking quietly to your teammates is fine — encouraged, even. But the moment your voice crosses the threshold, it registers as a scream and your score drops. The technology tracks volume in real time throughout the entire experience. There is nowhere to hide from your own reactions.
What Is Free Roam Reality
Free Roam Reality is a fully immersive experience where you physically walk, move, and interact inside a digitally rendered world. There is no joystick. No sitting in a chair. No cables. You are on your feet, moving through the space with your group using wireless Pico 4 headsets, and what you see matches what your body is doing — step for step, turn for turn.
This is why motion sickness is almost non-existent. Traditional VR makes people nauseous because a joystick moves your view while your body stays still. Your brain rejects the mismatch. Free Roam Reality eliminates that conflict — your movement is your movement. Your brain rarely gets a signal it doesn't expect. In rare cases some guests may still experience mild discomfort, but it is dramatically less common than with traditional VR.
No wires, no cables, no boundaries you can't see. You and your group physically walk through the experience space. Every step you take in the real room is a step in the virtual world.
Your body moves, your view moves. No joystick, no artificial locomotion, no vestibular conflict. The number one reason people avoid VR is almost non-existent here.
You see your teammates in the experience. You can high-five them — for real and in the virtual world simultaneously. This is a shared experience, not isolated headsets doing their own thing.
Don't Scream won Best Arts & Entertainment Solution at the 2023 XR Awards — recognized for innovation in location-based immersive entertainment.
How It Works
Arrive 15 minutes before your session. Your game host briefs your group, explains the controls, and gets everyone fitted with a wireless Pico 4 headset. No heavy equipment, no backpacks, no cables.
Step into the free roam arena and the real world disappears. You and your group are now standing inside the experience — fully immersed, fully wireless, fully free to move.
Navigate through terrifying environments. Solve puzzles to collect artifacts. Work with your team. Encounter things you'd rather not encounter. The scream meter is tracking every sound you make the entire time.
When the experience ends, the scores are revealed. The calmest player wins bragging rights. The loudest screamer buys dinner. Either way, you'll be talking about it for weeks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Motion sickness is extremely rare with Free Roam Reality because your body moves naturally through the space. What you see matches what your body is doing — there's no artificial movement from a joystick or controller. This is fundamentally different from traditional VR. If you've tried VR before and felt nauseous, the odds of it happening here are very low.
The Pico 4 headset has a built-in microphone that monitors your voice throughout the experience. When the volume of your voice crosses a set threshold, it registers as a scream and you lose points. Quiet talking is fine — it's the involuntary screams and gasps that cost you. The player who screams least wins.
Don't Scream is recommended for ages 12 and up due to horror content including jump scares, zombies, ghosts, and spiders. Parents may use their discretion for younger guests, but this experience is genuinely frightening — no refunds will be issued. For younger guests, our escape rooms The Four Kingdoms and Mystery in Chinatown are excellent alternatives with no horror content.
2 to 4 players per session. All sessions are private — your group only, no strangers added.
The game itself runs approximately 30–45 minutes. Allow approximately 60 minutes total including check-in, gear fitting, safety briefing, and post-game scoring.
Just yourself and comfortable clothing. Closed-toe shoes recommended since you'll be walking and moving throughout the experience. Leave bags and loose items with your group's non-players or at the front desk.
You can exit the experience at any time — just let your game host know. Removing the headset immediately returns you to the real room. There is no penalty and no judgment.
Absolutely — and most groups do. Play Don't Scream and then challenge one of our four themed escape rooms, or do the escape room first and finish the night with Free Roam Reality. Multi-pass pricing is available for guests who want both.
No. Traditional VR puts you in a chair or standing in one spot with a joystick controlling movement. Free Roam Reality puts you on your feet, physically walking through the experience with your group. No cables, no controllers for movement, motion sickness is rare. The technology is in the same category, but the experience is completely different.
