Jacksonville Beach has been waiting for something like this. Not another escape room — though we have four excellent ones — and not another VR rental that leaves half your group nauseous. Something genuinely new. Something that didn't exist in Northeast Florida six months ago. Verse Immersive, the augmented reality experience now running at Mind Bender AR on Beach Boulevard, is that thing. Here's exactly what to expect from the moment you pull into the parking lot.
What Is Verse Immersive?
Verse Immersive is the leading provider of location-based augmented reality experiences in the United States, operating at premier entertainment venues across the country — from Chicago's Block 37 mall to venues in Atlanta, San Diego, Cincinnati, and beyond. Each location hosts the same core technology: a room outfitted with Snap Spectacles AR glasses that project photorealistic holographic worlds into the physical space around you.
Mind Bender AR at 1500 Beach Blvd in Jacksonville Beach is Northeast Florida's exclusive Verse Immersive partner — the first and only permanent installation of this technology in this region. If you're in Jacksonville, this is the only place you can experience it.
The experience has been described as somewhere between an interactive museum and the first generation of the Holodeck from Star Trek. That's not hyperbole — it's the most accurate shorthand available for something that genuinely doesn't have a good comparison point yet.
The Two Experiences
Mind Bender AR currently offers two Verse Immersive experiences, each running approximately 25 minutes.
The Unreal Garden
The Unreal Garden is a holographic fantasy world where life-sized animals appear in the physical space around you. Frogs. Rabbits. Giant snails. And yes — an elephant that fills the room with its presence. The creatures are rendered in three-dimensional augmented reality by the Snap Spectacles glasses, appearing to exist in the same physical space you're standing in. You walk among them. You can reach toward them. Each guest navigates their own independent journey through the world, meaning what you encounter and when is entirely your own experience — even if you're standing two feet from someone else having theirs.
Star Walk
In Star Walk, guests walk through the solar system. The sun blazes in the middle of the room. Mars sits to your left. Saturn — with its rings rendered in full three-dimensional detail — hangs overhead. It is the kind of experience that makes the scale of the cosmos feel suddenly, viscerally real in a way that no documentary or planetarium has quite managed. Guests consistently describe looking up and then looking at the people next to them in disbelief that this is happening in Jacksonville Beach.
What Actually Happens — Step by Step
First-time visitors often arrive not quite knowing what to expect. Here's the full sequence from arrival to exit so there are no surprises.
Arrive & Check In
Mind Bender AR is located at 1500 Beach Blvd Suite 212, Jacksonville Beach — easy parking directly outside. Check in at the front desk. Arrive 10–15 minutes before your session to get set up comfortably.
Get Your Glasses
Your host fits you with Snap Spectacles AR glasses — lightweight, ergonomic, and designed to fit over prescription eyewear. They take about 30 seconds to get comfortable with. You'll be shown the basic interactions before entering.
Enter the Room
You walk into what looks like an empty room. Then the experience begins. The holographic world builds around you — slowly at first, then fully. The transition from ordinary space to something extraordinary takes about ten seconds and never gets less surprising.
Explore at Your Own Pace
No controllers. No game skills required. Your body is the interface — you move, look, and interact naturally. Each guest has their own independent experience within the shared space. You can see the people around you the entire time.
The Session Ends
Your experience runs approximately 25 minutes. When it ends, you remove the glasses and the ordinary room reappears. Most guests spend a few minutes afterward comparing notes on what they found, what surprised them, what they wished they'd had more time with.

Who Can Participate?
The AR experience is designed for guests ages 7 and up. The lower age limit exists for two practical reasons: the glasses need to fit properly, and the independent narrative structure of each experience can be challenging for younger children to follow without guidance. From age 7 upward — including adults well into their senior years — the experience works beautifully across the full range.
The glasses are designed to fit over prescription eyewear. Guests with glasses won't have any issues. The experience is accessible for guests who prefer to experience it seated — speak with staff when you arrive.
Group Size
Up to 10 guests can experience the AR room simultaneously. It's worth understanding that this isn't a group experience in the way an escape room is — everyone is in the same physical space and can see each other, but each person is on their own independent journey through the holographic world. There's no coordination required and no way for one person's actions to affect another's. This makes it unusually flexible for mixed groups where people explore at different paces.
Duration and Booking
Each experience runs approximately 25 minutes. The Multi-Pass option allows you to experience both The Unreal Garden and Star Walk in a single visit. Advance booking is strongly recommended — sessions sell out regularly, particularly on weekends and Friday evenings. Walk-ins are welcome based on availability but are not guaranteed.
What to Wear
Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes are all you need. You'll be walking freely around the room for the duration of your session. No special equipment, no backpacks, nothing to carry. Just show up and the experience takes care of everything else.
Is It Worth It?
That depends entirely on what you're comparing it to. As a straight dollar-for-dollar entertainment value comparison with dinner and a movie, or an escape room, or a round of bowling — yes, unambiguously. The experience is unlike anything else available in this part of Florida, and novelty has genuine value.
The conversations that happen after Verse Immersive — comparing what each person saw, what surprised them, what they wish they'd had more time with — those are the conversations that don't happen after dinner and a movie.
But the more honest answer is that the value of Verse Immersive is harder to quantify than ticket price. It's the kind of experience that changes your reference point for what entertainment can be. Guests who've had a bad VR experience elsewhere arrive skeptical and leave converted. Families with kids who were worried about age appropriateness arrive cautious and leave planning their next visit. Couples on date nights leave with something to talk about that didn't exist as a conversation topic before they walked in.
Jacksonville Beach has the pier. It has the beach. It has good restaurants and live music at Seawalk Pavilion. It now also has something that exists in only a handful of cities in the country. That's worth something.
