The Experience
Are the escape rooms private?

Yes — every escape room at Mind Bender is automatically private. When you book a time slot, that room is exclusively yours for the full 60 minutes. Your group will never be paired with strangers, regardless of group size. Even a group of two gets the whole room.

What escape rooms does Mind Bender have?

Mind Bender has four themed escape rooms: The Four Kingdoms (fantasy quest, 2–10 players, difficulty 8.2/10), Mystery in Chinatown (detective mystery, 2–6 players, difficulty 7.2/10), Jack the Ripper (Victorian murder mystery, 2–5 players, difficulty 7.8/10), and The Wood Shed (horror survival, 2–10 players, difficulty 8.9/10).

How hard are the escape rooms?

Each room has its own difficulty rating out of 10: Mystery in Chinatown (7.2 — best for beginners), Jack the Ripper (7.8 — moderate), The Four Kingdoms (8.2 — challenging), and The Wood Shed (8.9 — expert level). First-timers do great in any room — you get clues from your Escape Artist if you get stuck.

Which room is best for beginners?

Mystery in Chinatown is our most beginner-friendly room at 7.2/10 difficulty. The detective mystery format means the puzzle logic feels intuitive even for first-timers. That said, every room is designed to be solvable by any group — your Escape Artist provides clues when you need them.

Which escape room is the scariest?

The Wood Shed is our most intense room — a full horror survival scenario where you've stumbled into the lair of serial killer Zachary Klein. Expect jump scares, suspense, and a relentless pace. It's rated 8.9/10 for difficulty and is not recommended for guests sensitive to horror content. Our other three rooms are thriller and adventure themed — intense but not scary.

Are the rooms scary or claustrophobic?

Only The Wood Shed is designed to be genuinely scary — it's a horror-themed room with jump scares. The other three rooms (Four Kingdoms, Mystery in Chinatown, Jack the Ripper) are adventure and mystery themed — immersive and challenging but not frightening. None of our rooms are designed to feel claustrophobic, and you can exit at any time.

What happens if we don't escape in time?

No one gets locked in forever — your Escape Artist opens the room and walks you through any puzzles you didn't solve. Most groups don't escape on their first try and still have an incredible time. The experience is the fun part, not just the outcome.

Do I need special skills or knowledge?

No special skills, knowledge, or physical ability required. Escape rooms are about observation, communication, and teamwork — not trivia or strength. If you can search a room and talk to your teammates, you can play.

Safety & Rules
Are the doors actually locked?

No. The doors are never physically locked — that's an industry safety standard. You can step out at any time for any reason. To "escape" the room, you need to solve the puzzles and complete your mission before time runs out.

How does Mind Bender ensure a safe experience?

Safety is our top priority. All rooms are monitored at all times by a trained Escape Artist via camera and audio. The doors are never locked — you can leave at any time. All experiences are private (your group only), and we maintain enhanced sanitation protocols between every session.

Can I use my phone in the escape room?

Yes — you're welcome to use your phone during the game. We just ask that you don't post puzzle solutions or spoilers online so future groups can enjoy the same experience.

Can I bring food or drinks into the room?

No food or drinks are allowed inside the escape rooms. You're welcome to eat before or after your game. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance on Beach Blvd.

What are the age limits?

All ages are welcome. Our puzzles are designed with ages 12 and up in mind, and players 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Since all rooms are automatically private, your family always has the room to yourselves.

Planning Your Visit
What time should I arrive?

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time. This gives you time to check in, hear the rules, and get settled. Room doors cannot be opened once a game has started, so arriving on time is essential.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes are best. You'll be on your feet and moving around for 60 minutes. The building runs cool, so bring a light layer if you tend to get cold. A basket is provided in the room for bags and personal items.
